Engagement Summaries

SEO engagement summaries and what changed

Past engagements documented in anonymized form. Real challenges, real actions, and what changed over the engagement period.

Structure

Baseline situation

Where the site stood when the engagement began: traffic levels, ranking position, and the specific problem that prompted the work.

Approach

What we found and did

The technical issues discovered during audit, the content gaps identified, and the specific actions taken to address them.

Outcome

What changed

The visibility shift over the engagement period: traffic recovery, ranking movement, and indexation changes reported honestly.

Case 01 — E-commerce

E-commerce site with indexation problems

Technical SEO Indexation Migration recovery

Baseline

A mid-size online retailer in the home goods space had stable traffic for two years, then lost roughly 40 percent of organic visits over three months. They had recently migrated to a new platform.

What we found

The migration introduced duplicate URLs, broken canonical tags, and a faceted navigation system that created thousands of low-value pages. Search engines were crawling the facets instead of product pages.

What we did

We mapped old URLs to new ones, set up correct canonicals, and added robots directives to block faceted URLs. We also submitted an updated XML sitemap so crawlers could find the product pages without wasting time on filter combinations.

What changed

Within four months, organic traffic returned to pre-migration levels.

Case 02 — Local Service

Local service business with thin content

Baseline

A plumbing and HVAC company in a major US metro area ranked on page two for their primary service keywords. Their site had five pages total, each with fewer than 200 words.

What we found

Competitors had detailed service pages, location pages, and FAQ sections. The client's site gave search engines almost nothing to rank.

What we did

We restructured the site to have separate pages for each service and each service area. We wrote content briefs for the client's team, who produced the copy. We added local business schema and created a Google Business Profile for each service area.

What changed

Over six months, the site moved to the top of local map results for four target queries.

Case 03 — B2B SaaS

B2B SaaS company with content gaps

Baseline

A software company targeting HR professionals ranked for their brand name but almost nothing else. They had a blog with general industry posts that attracted no search traffic.

What we found

We reviewed the competitive landscape and found that their competitors ranked for specific long-tail queries related to HR compliance and onboarding. The client was publishing broadly useful content that nobody was searching for.

What we did

We built a content plan of 24 pages targeting these queries. Each page had a detailed brief with intent, outline, and internal links. The client's content team wrote and published the pages over five months.

What changed

By month seven, the site ranked in the top 10 for 14 of the 24 target queries.

Case 04 — Content Site

Site hit by a core update

Baseline

A content site in the personal finance space lost significant traffic after a search engine core update. The site had a large archive of articles, many of which were outdated or thin.

What we found

A content audit revealed three categories: pages that were no longer useful, pages that needed updating, and pages that could be consolidated into stronger resources.

What we did

We removed or merged 120 pages and updated 80 pages with current information, better structure, and improved internal linking. We also disavowed a set of low-quality links from outdated directories that were pointing at the site.

What changed

Traffic began to recover within ten weeks and continued to improve over the next six months.

Case 05 — Startup

New site building authority from scratch

From zero visibility

Baseline

A startup launched a new product in a competitive category and needed to build organic visibility from zero.

What we did

We started with technical SEO setup: site structure, schema, internal linking, and content templates. We then developed a content strategy focused on informational queries that the audience searches before they are ready to buy.

Execution

The client published two articles per week based on our briefs. We also conducted outreach to relevant industry sites for guest contributions and digital PR to build linking authority.

What changed

After eight months, the site had first-page rankings for several high-intent informational queries and was beginning to rank for commercial terms.

Case 06 — Multi-Location

Multi-location retail business

Baseline

A retail chain with 30 locations had a single corporate site with one location page listing all stores. They were not appearing in local map results for individual locations.

What we did

We restructured the site to have a dedicated page for each location, with unique content, hours, maps, and local business schema. We created and optimized a Google Business Profile for each store. We cleaned up inconsistent name, address, and phone data across local directories.

What changed

Within three months, 22 of the 30 locations were appearing in local map results for their respective service areas.

Reading These Summaries

How to read these summaries

Are these results typical?

These case studies are not promises. Your site, your competitive landscape, and your timeline are different. What these summaries show is the type of problem we work on and the methods we use.

What if my situation doesn't match any of these cases?

If your situation resembles one of the cases above, that is a reasonable starting point for a conversation. If it does not, we can still assess your site during a paid review. Every engagement begins with an audit, regardless of whether the problem looks familiar.

Why are the clients anonymized?

We do not name the clients or link to their sites. The challenges, actions, and outcomes are reported accurately, but client confidentiality comes first. The structure of each case — baseline, findings, actions, outcome — is the same, so you can compare approaches across different problem types.
